Helping young people live heathier lives

The Young and Empowered project (YEP) contributes to epidemic control in Zambia. The objective of the project which is still in progress is to ensure that the youths are empowered with knowledge to guide them in making decisions that do not endanger their health as well as teaching them livelihood skills such as catering, sewing, carpentry and many more.

The YEP project activities are carried out in Kamanga and Mtendere Peri Urban areas of Lusaka. The project focused on start-up activities such as introducing the project to ten adult mentors who were trained, followed by a training 0f the beneficiaries / youths.

The project has so far trained 30 peer educators and 10 adult mentors. These will spear head the dissemination of information on HIV prevention as well as well as livelihood skills.
