You are helping to break the cycle of poverty
For all of us to function effectively, good health is a must because when one is healthy, they can effectively work to sustain their livelihood and actively learn in school. That is why we work with government and communities to provide access to clean water, improve sanitation and hygiene, prevent diseases and provide health trainings. We have constructed over ten (10) health facilities and provided menstrual health education to girls and young women in our quest to reduce menstrual health and hygiene management challenges.

The Solar Project, implemented by ADRA Zambia and funded by ADRA Austria and private donors, and supported by Common Wellbeing. The project is aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery by installing reliable solar energy systems at Mwami and Yuka Mission Hospitals in Zambia. This initiative, supported by Common Wellbeing, sought to ensure a consistent power supply for critical medical services, particularly in regions with unreliable electricity access. At Mwami Mission Hospital, located in Eastern Zambia and serving over 50,000 people, the project addressed persistent power outages and the high costs associated with diesel generators. A 20kW solar power system was installed, providing reliable energy for key areas such as the maternity ward, theatre, and accounts department. Similarly, at Yuka Mission Hospital, serving over 40,000 people in Western Zambia, the project also installed a 20kW solar system to power essential areas like the theatre and administration block. Both hospitals now benefit from sustainable, cost-effective energy, significantly reducing their reliance on expensive diesel generators and grid electricity. This solar power solution has not only lowered energy costs but has also improved healthcare operations, ensuring that critical services are consistently available to the communities they serve.

Glassco Foundation, through its Health, Education, and Agriculture Programme, has made a significant contribution to strengthening healthcare services by providing essential hospital equipment to over 10 health centres contracted in Gwembe of Southern Province. This initiative, supported by the Glassco Foundation of Canada, aims to enhance the quality of medical care and improve health outcomes for communities in need. The newly donated equipment will help healthcare professionals deliver better patient care, increase efficiency in medical procedures, and ensure that essential health services are accessible to vulnerable populations. This intervention aligns with Glassco Foundation’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure, empowering local health facilities, and fostering sustainable development in underserved regions.
