Education
You are helping to break the cycle of poverty
With access to quality education and the right information, people can actively participate in activities that enable them to make informed developmental decisions. That is why we work with partners to construct school infrastructure, provide learning materials and promote adult literacy.

In an effort to promote environmental awareness in the education sector, ADRA Netherlands supported the handover of waste collection materials to schools across Lusaka District. This initiative was designed to encourage learners to actively engage in sustainable waste management practices, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility within the school environment. By providing schools with the necessary tools, including waste bins and recycling equipment, the project empowered both students and educators to adopt eco-friendly habits, such as waste segregation and recycling. The goal is not only to create cleaner school environments but also to educate the next generation on the importance of sustainability, shaping future leaders who will prioritize environmental conservation in their communities. Through this support, ADRA Netherlands is helping to integrate environmental education into the schools making it a key part of the students’ development and everyday practices

At Nabbanda Primary School, girls are engaged in a practical lesson on sewing reusable sanitary pads, an essential skill aimed at strengthening the resilience of youths and children in Zambia’s Chirundu and Siavonga Districts. This initiative contributes to improving the overall health and well-being of the students, ensuring that menstrual hygiene is no longer a barrier to their education. By teaching girls to create their own sanitary pads, the program promotes sustainability, reduces absenteeism, and empowers them with the knowledge to manage their menstrual health independently. The project is expected to directly benefit about 2,631 girls and young women, with over 15,000 others indirectly impacted by the end of the initiative. Supported by German Cooperation and Stiftung Kinderzukunft, this project focuses not only on health education but also on fostering resilience in communities, ensuring that young people can thrive without being held back by preventable challenges.
