At just 25 years old, Lweendo Shindaile is proving that youth have a vital role to play in transforming Zambia’s dairy sector. A member of Mukamba Dairy Cooperative in Choma District, Lweendo runs Hidden Valley Farm, located along the Choma Livingstone Road.
His journey into dairy farming began shortly after completing his tertiary education, when he decided to take over the family’s dairy activities from his mother. What started as a continuation of a family legacy has since become a thriving business driven by passion, discipline, and innovation.
In 2025, Lweendo was selected to participate in the Youth Category of the Herd Competition held on 18th July 2025, under the Jersey Breed Focused Dairy Development Project (JBFDDZ) implemented by ADRA Zambia. Thanks to his hard work and dedication to best farm management practices, he proudly emerged 1st place winner in his category. 🏆
“This award came as a big surprise,” Lweendo shared with a bright smile. “I’m deeply grateful to ADRA Zambia for the dairy management trainings that have equipped me with knowledge and confidence to run a successful dairy enterprise.”
Lweendo says the experience has motivated him to keep learning and applying everything he has gained through the project, including insights from the Zambia National Agriculture and Commercial Show, where he interacted with other progressive farmers.
Thanks to our supporting partners Jersey Overseas Aid through Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticulture Society, today Lweendo’s story is one of resilience, youth empowerment, and hope showing that when given the right knowledge and opportunities, young people can drive Zambia’s dairy industry forward.
