67-Year-Old Namawunga Malina Making a Difference in Senanga

Namawunga Malina, a 67-year-old father of five (4 boys and 1 girl) from Sunga Village, Mwanambuyu Ward, Senanga District, Western Province, is proving that age is no barrier to impact!

As a smallholder farmer and member of the Itufa Primary School Garden, Namawunga’s life revolves around farming his main source of income and livelihood. Thanks to the Sustainable Livelihood Integrating Nutrition (SLIN) Project by ADRA Zambia, funded by Czech Development Aid 🇨🇿, he has gained valuable skills to boost his farm productivity.

“As an induna in my village, I advise fellow farmers to adopt the good farming techniques ADRA is teaching at the school garden. We’ve learned post-harvest management how to properly store our yields and agroecology practices like crop rotation to improve harvests,” shares Namawunga.

The community is excited too! Fellow farmers are now learning how to grow multiple crops in the school garden, making money while reducing labor and improving food security.
